This was one of the
best self tanning products that I
have tried! In my opinion, if you
are spending close to $30 on a
bottle of self-tanner, it better be
an excellent quality product! One of
the things I liked best about this
product is you could tell
immediately where you already
applied the lotion and what areas
needed more, or needed further
massaging, since it comes
pre-tinted. The tan does not show up
immediately, but it gradually builds
up over time. I also found that my
tan lasted for a solid three days
before I noticed it begin to wear
off.
I made sure to massage the tanner
very thoroughly into my skin, as
directed, and avoided applying extra
product on my knees and ankles. You
really cannot massage this lotion in
TOO much; the more, the better.
Results are best if you apply this
product to freshly washed,
exfoliated skin. As the product
began to wear off on the third day I
had NO streaking like the other
tanning products I have tried! I
have to say, I was very impressed
with Famous Dave’s formulation, and
could definitely see spending more
for a quality product like this!
Ok, now I'll answer the million
dollar question you all want to

I've tried almost every tanner on
the market, that's including every
single one sold at Sephora. And all
of them were "So-So". So let me
explain why..
Dave's does not
streak!Major
plus. What' I've found with self
tanners especially in a bottle is
you can't really tell how much
you're putting on in certain areas
so after 3 or 4 hours you see
streaks of orange. Dave's will not
do this, as long as it's put on
correctly. Major points there!
It also goes on like
a basic moisturizer.It
appears just like a cream and you
smell nothing at first. It softens
your skin like no other tanner.
It won't flake off.
The last tanner I used would rub off
after a couple hours, this one won't
do that

Back by popular demand...Fake Bake Month! (Maybe we
should call it the Summer of Faux Tan?
I had never heard of Famous Dave's tanner until I posted
asking for suggestions of tanners to review. When
several readers suggested it, my first thought was that
someone was trying to play a trick on me. The only
Famous Dave's I knew was barbecue sauce!
But alas, there is a Famous Dave's tanner, and I made
quick work of ordering a bottle. Famous Dave's prides
itself on having the truest color, lowest odor, and
smoothest application. Tall order, eh?
The lotion is indeed fragrance-free (Dave says added
fragrances intensify DHA reek), but I did detect a bit
of that telltale "health food store unscented lotion"
odor in it. Know what I mean? It's hard to describe, but
it just had that raw smell. I didn't mind, because
within a few minutes, it had evaporated. After a few
hours, I did smell the DHA but, as promised, it wasn't
nearly as foul as some of the more heavily-scented
offerings.
As for application, the lotion is a bit opaque, so it
requires a good bit of effort to get it completely
rubbed in. This is a GOOD thing, as it forces you to
evenly distribute the product on your skin. The opacity
makes up for the lack of tint, which would otherwise
serve as a guideline for where you've applied the
product.
Once it's dry, you've seen the last of it. Famous Dave's
didn't come off on my clothes or sheets, or sweat off
into a gooey mess (it was rather hot the day I first
tried it).
A few hours after application, a VERY believable tan
develops. It's even and golden - not orange at all (see
the information about how pH contributes to the orange
tint, on the Famous Dave's website). It loses just one
point because it wasn't as dark as I was hoping for. I
was able to achieve a darker tan with a second
application two days later. And honestly, since Famous
Dave's is pretty much fuss-free, I didn't mind.
Overall, this is a perfect choice if you're sensitive to
fragrances and/or can't stand the messiness of other
tanners. I'm surprised it hasn't been featured in more
magazines, although I'm guessing the problem is ad
dollars rather than product effectiveness!

loved it! Despite the name that
sounds like a BBQ joint (ha!) it
works really well for great
coverage.
It holds to it's commitment of not
smelling for the first couple of
hours, but then I could smell a
slight self tanner. I have given up
on searching for a non-scented self
tanner, so this didn't bother me.
Plus, it was very faint, a lot less
than Jergen or Neutrogena's
products.
The color fully shows in about 4
hours. It's not 'Snookie-orange'
and looks like a natural tan.
I applied this tanner with both my
bare hands and using theSelf
Tanner Application Mitt.
Both worked the same, but the Mitt
is a good solution if you're not
careful about staining your hands.
Famous Dave's Self Tanner is a
one-of-a-kind self tanner that is
fragrance free and does not contain
the frequently-used ingredients that
cause skin to turn orange in color.
Rather, Famous Dave's Self Tanner
gives you a natural looking tan
because it does not have a pH over 6
(which is the color orange).
I tried Famous Dave's Standard
Moisture Tan lotion and immediately
noticed how fast it dried. By the
time I was done covering the parts I
wanted to tan, the rest of my body
was dry and I could put my clothes
on! I didn't have any tanner rub off
on my clothes except the next day I
wore white and sweated so some of
the tan rubbed off on my shirt via
the sweat, but it washed right out
in the machine.
I
liked the thickness of this moisture
tan and the fact that it moisturizes
my skin too, with aloe vera, sesame
and jojoba. The next morning after
applying this self tanner, I checked
out my tan and it really did look
natural. I didn't apply it very well
in some spots but it still blended
very well and didn't look obvious at
all. Famous Dave's Self Tanner is a
natural-looking tanner that will
moisturize and bronze your skin!

decided to give Famous Dave a try. I
kept thinking the box would be taking
advantage of the guarantee, that the box
went in the trash three days ago. This
is the fastest drying tanner I have ever

used only the night before bed so I can
not say for sure that the smell is not
there and I just sleep through it.
Absolutely no stain clothing or bedding
so far. Took twoquestions on the legs
and were very natural brown. I only used
my legs and can be compared to real nice
